Liz grew up in Baltimore. After completing an undergraduate degree in English from Yale University and working as a high school teacher for 3 years, she felt like something was missing in her professional life.
She wanted to work more closely one-on-one with children, teens and families to promote wellness and manage illness. After a stint in the San Francisco Bay Area where she met her husband, she moved to Philadelphia to obtain a BSN and MSN at The University of Pennsylvania and become a family nurse practitioner. During her graduate studies, she fell in love with pediatric practice, and with the city of Philadelphia, where she has made her home ever since.
Liz is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She spent four years at Castor Pediatrics in Northeast Philadelphia before joining South Philadelphia Pediatrics in 2013. At SPP, Liz feels as though she has found her practice "home." She values the relationships she has built with the families in the practice and takes joy in welcoming newborns, watching kids grow, and working with teens to navigate adolescence.
Liz has two school-age boys at home, and also teaches part-time in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Pennsylvania. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on the sidelines of her children's soccer matches, attending fitness classes in Clark Park, running along the Schuylkill River, exploring the Philadelphia restaurant scene, and baking tasty treats for her family.
