Dr. Busis grew up in the Philadelphia area and has lived here most of her life. When she was 4 years, she told everyone that she wanted to be a pediatrician when she grew up. Throughout the years, she had many other ideas of what she might grow up to be, but each one always had something to do with children.
She earned a B.A. in Biological Basis of Behavior, with a minor in anthropology, from the University of Pennsylvania. After college, she spent two years at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, MD, as a research assistant in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program. She then returned to Philadelphia to attend medical school back at the University of Pennsylvania.
As a medical student, she volunteered in shelters and provided medical care for the children staying there. Dr. Busis completed her pediatric residency at Thomas Jefferson University/A.I. Dupont Hospital for Children during which she discovered her passion for primary care. Dr. Busis joined South Philadelphia Pediatrics in 2011.
When she is not working, Dr. Busis loves creating adventures with her husband and two boys while reading books together, exploring the city, playing in the park, or walking along the Schuylkill River.
