After many years of caring for children and families in our community, Dr. Prettyman will be retiring at the end of March 2026. We are so grateful for the kindness, dedication, and thoughtful care she has given to so many patients and families, and we know you all will share in wishing her the very best in her retirement. Measles has been in the news a lot lately and parents have a lot of questions. Currently, there is not a measles outbreak in the Philadelphia area. At this time, we are NOT giving measles vaccines to babies under 12 months of age. See the guidance below. The first dose of the MMR vaccine is given between 12 and 15 months of age and the second dose is given at 4-6 years. If your 1-4 year old child has already had their first dose of the vaccine, then they are appropriately immunized and another dose is not recommended at this time, unless they have exposure to or contact with a measles case. If your 1 year old child has not yet had the MMR vaccine, then please call to schedule your child's check up and shots. If your child is 6-11 months of age and has been exposed to measles. please call the office (but DO NOT COME IN). If your child is 6-11 months of age and you plan to travel internationally soon, then please call the office to schedule an appointment for a travel counseling visit. At this time, it is not recommended to give all babies 6-11 months old the MMR shot. For more information, please check out this helpful information from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
